Cummings and Bellegay Poised to Lead Razorbacks in Promising Second PGLL Season

Apr. 04, 2025

Weyburn, SK - As the Weyburn Completely Branded, Rent Pro Razorbacks Junior B Lacrosse Club enters its second season in the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL), the team is looking to build on a solid foundation under the leadership of co-head coaches Keenan Cummings and Kyle Bellegay. With a balance of grassroots development and high-performance experience, the coaching duo is expected to be a key catalyst in the Razorbacks’ continued growth in 2025.

Cummings, a passionate advocate for lacrosse in Saskatchewan, has been active in growing the game at the grassroots level for more than a decade. He made early contributions by leading clinics across the province as far back as 2011, where he helped introduce the sport to young athletes in smaller centers like Yorkton, Regina & Dakota First Nation. His commitment to player development and community engagement aligns perfectly with the Razorbacks’ mission of building a competitive, sustainable lacrosse culture in Weyburn.

Bellegay brings a complementary perspective, shaped by his playing career and years of coaching experience. As a former offensive standout with the Victoria Junior Shamrocks, Bellegay led the team in scoring during the 1996 season before shifting into coaching. He most recently served as General Manager and Head Coach of the Regina Heat in the PGLL’s Senior division, where he became known for his strategic mindset and ability to unite players around a common goal.

The PGLL, established in 2001, is Saskatchewan’s premier box lacrosse league, providing competitive opportunities for Junior and Senior players aged 17 and up. The league continues to expand in size and talent, giving clubs like the Razorbacks an ideal platform to develop local talent and compete at a high level.

In their inaugural PGLL campaign in 2024, the Weyburn Completely Branded, Rent Pro Razorbacks faced stiff competition but made steady progress throughout the season. A defining moment came in June with a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Moose Jaw Mustangs in a rockin’ Crescent Point Place — a result that highlighted the team’s determination, defensive grit, and evolving team chemistry.

Support from the Weyburn community has been a key part of the club’s early success. Fans turned out in strong numbers for home games, creating an electric atmosphere that helped fuel the team on the floor. That enthusiasm, combined with the steady guidance of Cummings and Bellegay, has the Razorbacks well-positioned heading into their sophomore season.

With the coaching staff emphasizing discipline, development, and teamwork, the Razorbacks are aiming to build on last year’s progress and establish themselves as a consistent contender in the PGLL.

The 2025 season kicks off late April, and optimism is high. Under the leadership of Cummings and Bellegay, the Razorbacks are not just chasing wins — they’re building something special for the future of lacrosse in Weyburn and beyond.
